Summer, 2017: THE APOLLO CLUB APPOINTS NEW ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
The Apollo Male Chorus and Master Chorale salute Dr. Aaron Humble as their new Artistic Director and Principal Conductor.
"Remarkably virtuosic"
-- the Columbus Republic
"Transcendent"
-- the Daytona Beach News Journal
These critiques fittingly describe Dr. Aaron Humble, the newly appointed Chef du Musique of the Apollo Club. Believing that "a consummate musician can tackle multiple genres", Dr. Humble has performed in opera, recital, and concert and chamber music, with such notable consortia as the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Boston Pops, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Lincoln Center in New York, the Library of Congress, Wolf Trap, and the Chautauqua Institute.
Dr. Humble brings to us a remarkable background in choral music and conducting, with emphasis on male choral music. His ten years with Cantus, acclaimed as the premier men's vocal ensemble in the United States, will be a major asset for us. - Ray Peterson, President, The Apollo Club.
A graduate of Millikin University, Aaron holds the Doctor of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Literature from the Indiana University-Jacobs School of Music, and is a member of the faculty at Minnesota State Mankato where he teaches applied voice, diction, and conducts the University Chorale. As Dr. Humble now directs his focus towards conducting and teaching, he will continue to perform as a recital and concert singer.
